Job Description

This position involves procurement of goods, services and other commercial activities for USP India. The responsibilities include organizing purchase activities involving record of receivables, supplier management, evaluation and communication. Coordinate with vendors, service providers for order fulfillment process and its record keeping. Generate periodical reports and MIS. The overall objective of the role is to provide goods and services on time to the testing laboratory and working under the guidelines of cost allocations and target timelines for the site, while having sufficient controls and efficient practices in place.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Global & Domestic Sourcing and procurement of Drug products, Drug Substances viz APIs, Impurities, Excipients, Foods viz spices, plant extracts, grains and Over the Counter Drug products.

  • Procurement of Laboratory Chemicals, Intermediates, Lab Consumables from Domestic and International market.

  • Custom synthesis vendors identification & development for Synthetic team chemical intermediates requirement

  • Biologics consumables procurement

  • Sourcing & Procurement of Impurities for Impurities for Development projects.

  • Procurement of Capital Equipment’s / Instruments for Lab and Engineering.

  • Receive & validate Purchase Requisitions / Indents.

  • Coordinate with user departments for technical clarifications if any.

  • Request for quotations / Proposals / Information from vendors.

  • Follow up with vendors and obtain quotations, COAs, other documents and information as required.

  • Verify and validate quotations & COAs.

  • Commercial negotiations with vendors and achieve competitive terms.

  • Finalization of Purchase Orders and Work Orders.

  • Purchase Orders conversion from Purchase Requisition within TAT

  • Monitor, Expedite and follow up for deliveries.

  • Ensure timely payments to vendors in coordination with Finance & Accounts team

  • Assist with Internal / External Audit requirements.

  • Generate weekly, monthly and other periodic MIS as required.

  • Participates in departmental meetings, in-house trainings and workshops for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

  • Vendor Selection, Performance Evaluation, perform vendor Rating and Retention of potential vendors.

  • Identify alternate suppliers to strengthen the vendor database.

  • Organize and maintain Procurement documentation in line with SOP.

  • Coordination for Import and Export custom clearance of goods as per compliances.

Required Skills

A Science graduate preferably or Any Graduate from a Recognized University/Institute with a proven experience of 07 to 10 years in Purchasing/SCM domain. The candidate must have working experience in Pharmaceutical/Life Sciences CRO, Drug Discovery units.

Required Experience

A Post-Graduation in Business Administration in SCM will be given an added weightage.
