Job Description

The Senior Data Management Analyst is a non-supervisory position within the Data Strategy and Analytics(DS&A) team. The Data Strategy and Analytics team performs centralized business analytics function for USP – supporting all levels of the organization including the Executive Team. The Senior Data Management Analyst, performs an integral role in DS&A by implementing data standards and processes to ensure high quality DS&A data assets are accessible throughout the organization; providing high data availability consistent with the organization’s goals and objectives; and supporting the Data Quality program with a focus on ensuring the highest standards of data quality for DS&A managed assets.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Structures, develops, manages and maintains core data assets ensuring quality standards are met

  • In-depth analysis of data defects to identify areas of improvement in data quality

  • Performs data cleansing and root cause analysis to identify data quality issues

  • Develops automated processes for data management and quality analysis using SQL and tools like SSIS and Alteryx.

  • Maintenance of data integrity (<0.1% error rate)

  • Development of data collection processes and data management systems

  • Designing of queries, compiling of data, and generation of reports in MS Excel

  • Data collection/entry in database and performing monthly updates

  • Develops ad hoc reports and analyses as needed to support analytics colleagues

  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Expert level of Excel skills required

  • Expert level of SQL (PL SQL preferred), SQL Server, Oracle Database experience

  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and data protection management practices

  • Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection

  • Demonstrated consulting skills, with change management concepts and strategies, including communication, culture change and performance measurement system design

  • Tableau or similar data visualization tool preferred

  • Master data management (MDM) tools experience preferred

  • Python experience preferred

  • High degree of business acumen required

  • Clear understanding of RDBMS concepts, especially Normal Forms of the data, data integrity

  • High degree of analytic skills required

  • Has the ability to work across a global company with remotely located teams

  • Highly detail oriented with precise attention to data quality

  • Ability to apply business knowledge to scientific products and services required

  • Ability to build solid working relationships

  • Has the ability to explain highly technical or complex issues succinctly to a non-technical audience

  • Excellent time and project management skills

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision

  • SSIS, Alteryx or other data cleansing and management tool

  • Experience on TOAD

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, MIS, or Information Management

  • At least 8 years of experience with Bachelor’s degree in a major services organization, with large-scale data management or at least 6 years of experience with Master’s degree.
