The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) Consolidations & Reporting Lead in Rockville, Maryland


The Lead, Consolidations and Reporting is a hands-on, professional position responsible for operational accounting and reporting, process improvement initiatives, compliance to U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal controls, and company policies, as well as, staff development.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage global consolidated reporting, global accounting policy, accounting systems and integration projects, which include developing ERP report requirements to create metrics.

  • Lead the preparation and/or review of monthly corporate accounting journal entries, departmental allocations, reconciliations, and financial reporting for assigned functional areas that include fixed assets and leases.

  • Execute the monthly accounting of subsidiaries, consolidation and intercompany elimination activities, as well as foreign exchange conversions.

  • Research and implement technical accounting issues and new standards, including drafting memos documenting application, and working with relevant business partners throughout the the transition of the on-going process to the functional accounting team staff.

  • Perform and/or review account reconciliations and analytical procedures. Resolve issues and exceptions on a timely basis.

  • Identify, implement, and support technology and other process improvement initiatives to improve automation, productivity, controls, and changing business needs to advance this department within a fast-paced, rapidly changing organization.

  • Support strategic initiatives to deliver quality financial reporting and compliance through collaborations across finance.

  • Participate actively in monthly financial close and project meetings.

  • Manage preparation of supporting documentation and liase with auditors.

  • Maintain compliance with U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies.

  • Ensure key internal controls are operating effectively.

  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 5 years of relevant work experience, including 2+ years of Big 4 or regional public accounting experience.

  • Applicable post graduate education and experience will be considered in lieu of an undergraduate degree in Accounting.

  • Experience with large ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, PeopleSoft, OBIEE, Hyperion, BI)

  • CPA

Skills Sought

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret financial impact of data

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools—intermediate to advanced Excel skills
