The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) Data Quality Manager in Rockville, Maryland
This individual contributor position is will be a member of the Translational Informatics team within USPs Digital and Innovation Division. USP’s Digital and Innovation Division mission is to define and build digital products, standards, and solutions aligned with stakeholder needs. The Data Quality Manager will be responsible for ensuring quality of USP data assets that are published externally.
Roles and Responsibilities
Designs processes and tools, or improve existing tools that enable data quality measurement, specifically for data sets and services that are published for use by external stakeholders
Leads the creation of data quality goals and benchmarks
Works with technical teams to translate end-user requirements for data quality into functional requirements
Defines, develops, and executes automated end-to-end testing protocols and reports to ensure data quality
Conducts root cause analysis when issues with data are discovered and lead process to document and remediate issues
Ensures that existing tools and processes that generate data are documented and understood
Communicates and collaborates with relevant departments and teams to understand critical data elements in data assets and publications to ensure quality is understood and built into processes (completeness, validity, version control, etc.)
Seeks and flags opportunities to enhance data quality and reduce quality risks throughout the data lifecycle
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Data Science, Cheminformatics, Health Informatics
Five (5) years of experience in related field
Four (4) years of experience working with data related to life sciences contents such as chemistry, biology, genetics, etc.
Meticulous and attentive to details while being able to process data quickly
Experience in digital product quality assurance and data governance
Experience with automation of quality solutions such as reports, comparisons, visualizations, etc.
Ability to innovate in development of quality solutions that combine multiple data assets from across the enterprise
Experience with guiding, prioritizing, and influencing Agile development teams
Experience with tools such as Python, Unix, R Studio, Tableau, MySQL/Oracle, Protégé, or other tools and software as to query and analyze unstructured or structured data
Ability to communicate business requirements to software developers to enhance technical platforms
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong people skills and organizational skills
Excellent communications skills, including both verbal and written
Ability to present and impart knowledge to diverse audiences
