Summary of the Position

The position is responsible for the delivery of IT infrastructure and related IT operations used to enable business capabilities and services across the enterprise with locations in US, India and multiple regional offices globally. S/he brings current IT knowledge, future vision, leadership and management abilities, process design skills and business acumen to transform the Infrastructure and Operations function in a hybrid cloud environment.

The Director will work with the GIS leadership team to develop IT strategy and oversee the operation and evolution of USP’s IT infrastructure including externally sourced services and internal capabilities. S/he contributes to the development and execution of the IT strategy and is responsible for ensuring the IT infrastructure and operations is aligned to deliver business value. The Director is an experienced and motivated IT leader with broad background in IT, operations, infrastructure, incident response, and risk management who can build and lead a global team with a demonstrated track record of developing strong relationships, collaborating across teams, developing their staff, coordinating multiple timelines, and managing complex, cross-discipline projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Sets the mission, vision and strategy of IT Operations organization to foster a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continuous improvement.

  • Introduces innovative, differentiating infrastructure and operations capabilities that enhance our overall competitive capabilities and enhance employee productivity.

  • Works with the IT leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources, including budget.

  • Builds successful stakeholder relationships with other IT and business leaders by developing a clear understanding of business needs, acting as a trusted advisor, and ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs.

  • Defines, develops and manages a comprehensive and integrated ITSM landscape, based on best-practice processes, disciplines and related toolsets.

  • Collaborates with the IT security team to ensure IT Operations embrace and apply security strategy.

  • Directs the development of an IT operations sourcing strategy and provides oversight for vendor and partner relationship management

  • Establishes service level objectives for IT Operations and ensures they are communicated, executed and met.

  • Develops the disaster recovery plan for IT Operations and ensures it is communicated, rehearsed and measured.

  • Leads continuous improvement of IT services, processes and employee experience using technology.

  • Develop metrics and reporting program to demonstrate continuous improvement, reliability and availability of IT systems and operations.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Ten (10) years of experience in IT.

  • Five (5) years of management experience including budgeting and managing managers.

  • Three (3) years of experience with Cloud (IaaS, PaaS and SaaS) services and solutions, preferably in MS Azure and/or AWS

Skills Sought

  • Advanced understanding of infrastructure technologies – server, database, network, storage, security and management technologies

  • Experience with IT transformation – data center migration to Cloud

  • Demonstrated experience of influencing key stakeholders across the organization and within complex contexts.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders, and business concepts to the IT team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Expertise in budget planning and financial management, preferably with showback and/or chargeback models.

  • Deep understanding of current and emerging infrastructure and operation technologies and practices, and how other enterprises are employing them

  • Experience with IT transformation – data center migration to Cloud

  • Expertise in establishing and improving DevOps and ITIL practices

  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills

  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with direct reports, IT peers, and senior management across USP.
