Summary of the Position
The Financial Analyst is a key member of the Global Finance team responsible for overall donor related budget, planning and analysis, oversight of grant and award budget vs actual, management and donor financial reporting and monitoring. He/She provides critical support to the Global Public Health division team in all areas related to budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis through the development and support of the company’s Hyperion Planning application. This individual will work with senior leaders across the Global Public Health function to develop solutions which align with the reporting and budgeting needs of the Division. Reporting to the Manager, Finance and Accounting, this position will support operational and financial analyses focused on accuracy of internal and external reporting and invoicing. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment, welcomes a challenge, learns fast and works under tight deadlines.
Roles and Responsibilities
Partner with the Finance Manager to review budget tools and templates and make recommendations for improvements
Partner with Finance Manager to prepare GHMS corporate and donor funded annual budgets
Work with Finance Manager to develop and refine budget tracking tools
Monitor and analyze field office accounts to help assess whether costs are allowable and within budget
Serve critical liaison role between the corporate accounting team and the Global Public health division in Rockville and oversea field offices in areas related to financial planning, reporting and analysis
Develop project financial reports and other ad hoc financial analysis required at the project level
everage advanced analytical skills to challenge current processes, data, and reports for accuracy and improvements
Prepare post-forecast/budget consolidated results for executive distribution
Assist with consolidated report of monthly results
Ensure that all project finances conform with USP’s Accounting policies and procedures
Assist with pipeline reporting and related analysis.
Other Ad Hoc analysis as requested to support corporate finance team
Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
BA or BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Information Systems or equivalent years of practical experience
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in not for profit financial reporting, planning and analysis
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience working with USAID and other donors.
Ability and desire to work well with diverse employees and customers in a cooperative and friendly manner.
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
