Summary of the Position

This is a non-supervisory, mid-management position responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive business and marketing plan that addresses all aspects of the marketing mix (price, product/service, promotion, and distribution/channel) which will drive maximum impact (revenue, gross profit, expenses, capital investments and public health) for USP General Chapters and Reference Standards associated with General Chapters.

The candidate, with guidance from his/her supervisor will develop and execute the global strategic marketing and operations strategy for the program unit. The candidate is part of a cross functional team and will work collaboratively with the Scientific Lead for General Chapters. The candidate has primary responsibility for bringing the customer voice and market understanding to drive impact, profit and loss for the program, and will draw on resources from various functions across the organization to support the program strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the marketing strategy to promote General Chapters and associated USP RS to meet the annual targets for relevant USP RS

  • Work with external partner and USP's global communication team to develop digital and physical promotional assets

  • Work with the Science lead, customer insights team, market research team and account managers to develop a strong understanding of customer profiles

  • Collaborate with the Science lead to identify and develop targeted messaging for different reader/user groups of General Chapters

  • Plan and support execution of efforts to promote new and revised General Chapters to consequently promote new USP RS and new used of existing USP RS

  • Work with regional account managers to promote the same through on-field efforts

  • Support efforts on positioning USP's products and services as a comprehensive solution for pharmaceutical industry

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree in marketing, business, or scientific field is required.

  • Five (5) years of related work experience with a minimum of 2 years in product marketing.

  • Combination equivalent of degree / years experience accepted

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in life sciences or equivalent and an MBA

  • At least eight years of experience in pharma or related industry, with a combination of commercial and technical roles

  • An understanding of USP, USP general chapters and use of USP RS

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient at digital marketing and use of metrics to measure success of digital marketing programs

  • Ability to excel in a cross-functional environment

  • A strong work ethic
