Summary of the Position

The Program Manager is an individual contributor role in the Global Biologics Department in the Strategic Operations Function reporting to the Function Director that is responsible for program managing ongoing internal projects and external collaborations that directly support biological standard early product pipeline development. The Program Manager will use scientific knowledge and experience and program management skills to manage workplans, timelines, deliverables, and project transfers to ensure operational alignment and linkages to strategic goals for a comprehensive pipeline of next-generation biological standards across different therapeutic areas which is critical for the implementation of the biologics strategy. The Program Manager will liaise with internal and external collaborators and support contract and resource management. Other responsibilities include contributing to development of program management methodology and tools.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Partner with global Biologics Leadership to drive programs to meet established objectives and appropriately utilize resources

  • Build and manage workplans, timelines, deliverables, and project transfers with a clear understanding of responsibilities across stakeholders and drive staff accountability

  • Report on performance to plan and overall metrics as part of performance management

  • Anticipate and identify issues and challenges, and manage resolution with team leaders

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across USP as needed to successfully implement projects

  • Liaise with external collaborators and contractors to manage timelines and deliver milestones. Assists with contracts including managing to preset milestones.

  • Lead the development of a robust project management approach to fulfill responsibilities and identify opportunities for process improvement

  • Leverage tools, technology, platforms to efficiently and effectively manage projects

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science based discipline or relevant field

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience project managing multiple, complex projects in life science industry or a research environment

  • Strong project lifecycle and project management knowledge and skills

  • Ability to use scientific knowledge and experience to understand and deliver on scientific and business objectives

  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and prioritize time effectively in a fast-paced environment

  • Attention to detail while keeping attention on the big picture

  • Ability to build effective work relationships and work collaboratively in a global setting

  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with external partners with demonstrated relationship management skills

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to mobilize stakeholders to results at all organizational levels

  • High comfort with navigating through ambiguity and frequent change, and course-adjusting in the moment

  • Demonstrated ability to distill project information and complexities into actions and meaningful outcomes

  • Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness with good judgement about what can work

  • Strong influence, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to drive program success

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with audience appropriate awareness

  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient in project management software use

  • PMP or related certification together with demonstrated job application of knowledge is a plus
