Job Description

The Senior Accountant is a non- supervisory position responsible for processing timely and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders while participating in the monthly financial process through preparation of journal entries, account analysis, and reconciliations. The incumbent in this role will own the assigned functional areas, identify and support process improvement initiatives to advance this department within a fast-paced, rapidly changing organization.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting for general accounting areas such as, investments, debt, fixed assets, and project billing/revenues.

  • Identify, implement, and support ERP and other process improvement initiatives to improve automation, productivity, and controls.

  • Participate actively in monthly close and project meetings.

  • Assist in audit coordination including preparation of audit work papers and supporting documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

  • Perform other related duties and ad-hoc analysis as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 5 years of relevant work experience, including 2+ years of public accounting experience

  • CPA candidate or certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret financial impact of data

  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools—advanced Excel skills

  • Experience with Oracle Financials, helpful but not required

  • Possess the right mix of technical accounting, general ledger accounting, financial analysis, and communication skills to collaborate effectively with functional departments.

  • Detail-oriented team player with the ability to work independently.

  • Results driven with demonstrated successful outcomes.

  • Ability to handle competing priorities and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability and desire to work well with internal customers in a cooperative and friendly manner.

  • Ability to influence without direct authority.

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Able to work flexible hours when needed.
