Summary of the Position

This is a professional position responsible for executing on a comprehensive marketing plan that addresses all aspects of the marketing mix (price, product/service, promotion, and distribution/channel) which will drive maximum impact (both revenue and public health) for assigned projects in the Pharma marketplace. The Sr. Manager will be required to develop an understanding of relevant customer requirements, priorities, and needs working collaboratively with sales team and additional internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the Sr. Mgr. may be responsible for leading cross functional teams related to new product/service offerings and driving the creation and execution of strategic plans.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop product marketing materials, including product brochures, sales tools advertisements, digital and social content, and any other promotional material required to support the execution of the multi-channel small molecule marketing plan

  • Manage approval of promotional materials through the internal promotional review process to ensure accuracy and compliance with company requirements

  • Support annual marketing plan process with internal stakeholders and external agencies to develop multi-channel strategies to create meaningful and differentiated customer experiences in support of the Small Molecule business unit

  • Applies technical knowledge to marketing and selling solutions, and identifies new business opportunities recommending new products, systems and services to the Program Unit Team (PUT).

  • Track projects, budgets and timelines against the marketing plan, sometimes with external agencies, responsibly allocates and manages the spending in alignment with approved marketing plan. Manage all aspects of conferences and trade shows for the small molecule business unit.

  • Manages by influence and collaboration on designated project sub-teams

  • Devises metrics to gauge success on marketing efforts not only in terms of revenue, but in terms of maximizing public health impact and reporting on them routinely

  • Working with cross-functional groups (e.g., marketing communications, market intelligence, science, US and global sales teams) to build alignment and drive results

  • Understands and develops insights into customer segment needs and market information, translating into tactical plans and executes against those plans

  • Continuously monitor to identify areas of opportunity to enhance brand, messaging and tactical field force pull-through Proactively identifies key trends and accurately translates them into tactics and strategies for market development.

  • Serve as a contact and resource to support the customer engagement and scientific affairs teams, including gathering of insights and bringing them back to the marketing team

Senior Manager role in addition to above:

  • Develops and drives the goals, objectives, strategies and tactics that meet established targets for profitable sales growth, market penetration and public health impact.

  • Develops and maintains comprehensive and accurate information on key competitors and utilizes the data to modify market development strategies and tactics.

  • Working with the External Affairs / Communications and Design staff, effectively allocate our media spending based on a clear understanding of the returns on investment from each of the different elements in the mix.

  • Working with External Affairs / Communications and Design staff, create clear and compelling messages that resonate with the target customer segment in the industry.

  • Remains active in trade associations and professional groups influencing the target markets

  • Annually or as needed develops P&L forecast for USP products/services in the assigned program.

Basic Qualifications

Manager:

  • Bachelors’ degree in marketing, business, or scientific field is required.

  • Five (5) years of related work experience with a minimum of 2 years in product marketing.

  • Combination equivalent of degree / years experience accepted

Senior Manager:

  • Bachelors’ degree in marketing, business, or scientific field is required.

  • Eight (8) years of related work experience with a minimum of 4 years in product marketing.

  • Combination equivalent of degree / years experience accepted

Preferred Qualifications

  • Combined education in Pharma science and business highly desired. MBA is helpful.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, relational databases, data structure, data query, analysis and reporting.

  • Possess a technical understanding of the assigned product area and how customers use the products; can articulate customer needs.

  • Ability to gain customer confidence and establish relationships; Strong empathy for customers.

  • Global mindset and ability to travel - up to 10% - once external environment will allow.
