Brief Job Overview
The individual in this role will be pivotal in advancing USP's ambition to facilitate the transition to Pharma 4.0, specifically by developing products based on machine readable USP documentary standards, that are used in lab and pharmaceutical manufacturing settings. The goal is high-quality digital content, seamlessly integrated into customer instruments and workflows.
How will YOU create impact here at USP?
The individual in the role is responsible for developing and executing a product definition, customer value proposition, strategic plan, and roadmap. There will be significant collaboration both with internal cross-functional teams and external customers and vendors.
Understand customer and stakeholder requirements.
Develop and evangelize product-line vision, strategy, and roadmap to customers and stakeholders.
Manage a process to develop the new products, working with internal technical teams and/ or vendors. This may involve knowing enough to oversee an ETL process from human-readable to machine-readable forms, ensuring accuracy and continuous updating of content; incorporating relevant ontologies and data structures, and monitoring external data sources for alignment. This may also involve shaping broader efforts to streamline the documentary standards development pipeline at USP.
Work with technical team to develop new product(s).
Grow new products’ adoption.
Be the expert on the product(s) and customers both internally and externally.
Track progress with KPIs.
Represent USP in external consortiums, standards setting bodies, and government agencies, ensuring our standards align with industry transitions.
Who USP is Looking For?
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:
Manager
BS in chemistry, biology, or related field.
Relevant experience in domains such as pharmaceutical R&D lab, lab automation, digital lab operations, or related software development.
Experience in new informatics or laboratory product development.
Senior Manager
BS/PhD in chemistry, biology, or related field.
5+ years of product management experience in a scientific or technical field.
Demonstrable record in launching and growing new informatics or laboratory products.
Additional Desired Preferences
Masters in Business Administration.
Strong end-user focus and pragmatism.
Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams without formal reporting relationships.
Ability and desire to work well with diverse employees and customers in a cooperative and friendly manner.
Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to learn new, technical topics to a depth appropriate to effectively identify challenges and drive toward solutions.
Understanding of what it takes to create and/or maintain private or public electronic databases that are used in Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS), Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN), or similar laboratory implementations.
Understanding of data models and ontologies in the laboratory domain, such as the ASM/AFO from the Allotrope Foundation.
Understanding of digital product quality assurance and data quality and governance.
Some exposure and comfort with tools such as Python, Tableau, MySQL/Oracle and other tools and software to query and analyze structured or unstructured data.
