Job Description

The Senior Manager, Impact Measurement, Evaluation and Strategy is a highly visible role within the Strategy and Business Development (SBD) division. The incumbent in this role will manage the Impact Measurement, Evaluation and Strategy (IMES) team and its deliverables.

USP’s mission is to improve global health through public standards and related programs that help ensure the quality, safety, and benefit of medicines and foods. The IMES team is responsible for helping the organization further understand how and in what contexts USP’s standards and other programs have global public health impact, and to promote evidence-based decision-making and communication that further USP’s mission.

This is a supervisory role managing the Analyst-Impact Data Insights.

Roles and Responsibilities

Conceptualize and direct Impact research agenda

  • Identify and prioritize the key enterprise-level research questions related to how and in what contexts USP’s standards and related programs have public health impact

  • Work closely with the Impact Advisory Council (an internal advisory body) to prioritize research projects

  • Identify resourcing to accomplish the research agenda. In addition to internal resources, this may involve close collaboration with academic institutions or consulting firms

Ensure that Impact insights and learnings are informing strategic decisions and communication

  • Work closely with colleagues to ensure insights and learnings are used to drive evidence-based decisions that further USP’s public health mission

  • Support External Affairs and Staff Engagement teams in integrating insights on USP’s impact into external and internal communication

  • Represent USP and the Impact Measurement, Evaluation and Strategy team at public fora, including to describe research findings

Foster a culture of evidence based decision-making that maximize USP’s public health impact

Provide thought leadership and support to programs in order to:

  • Define the unmet public health needs in their sectors and define how USP could help address those needs (theory of change)

  • Design, develop and strengthen monitoring and evaluation approaches, including impact indicators and other key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor project success

  • Conduct evaluations and apply learnings to future projects

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Economics or relevant field

  • At least 7 years of experience in public health, monitoring and evaluation, social sector consulting or impact investing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Business Administration, Finance, Economics or other relevant field

  • Experience building and garnering organizational buy-in fora new function

  • Experience driving change within multiple different types of organizations (e.g., non-profit, government, for-profit, investment firm)

  • Experience convening senior thought leaders (including academics, scientists and/or regulators) and driving a research agenda forward

  • At least 1 year in strategy consulting or impact investing

  • At least 2 years of people management experience

  • Comfort and experience with public speaking
