The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) Senior Software Engineer, Salesforce in Rockville, Maryland
This position is responsible for developing and supporting USP’s Salesforce platform to deliver value to stakeholders. The role will design and develop the Salesforce platform and related software to meet defined requirements by following agreed design standards and principles as well as deliver management, technical and administrative services to support and maintain live applications. Finally, the role will be responsible for supporting the implementation, and control of activities to integrate/build components, subsystems, and interfaces to create operational systems, products, or services for delivery to customers, or for internal or interim purposes such as testing.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Takes technical responsibility across all stages and iterations of software development.
Plans and drives software construction activities. Adopts and adapts appropriate software development methods, tools, and techniques.
Specifies and designs large or complex software applications, components, and modules.
Adopts and adapts software design methods, tools, and techniques. Undertakes impact analysis on major design options, makes recommendations and assesses and manages associated risks. Specifies prototypes/simulations to enable informed decision-making.
Evaluates software designs to ensure adherence to standards and identifies corrective action. Ensures that the software design balances functional, quality, security, and systems management requirements.
Identifies, evaluates, and manages the adoption of appropriate tools, techniques, and processes (including automation and continuous integration) to create a robust integration framework.
Develop custom solutions within the Salesforce platform to support critical business functions and meet project objectives and client requirements
Exhibits effective communication with project managers, business teams and other developers on projects to ensure effective collaboration throughout all phases of development, testing and deployment
Integrate with on premise and cloud-based systems using Salesforce and third-party APIs
Execute full lifecycle deployments from development to sandbox production
Provide system administration support of internal and customer-facing Salesforce environment, especially related to customized applications, user permissions, security settings, custom objects, and automations
Develop strategic accelerators on the force.com platform
Carry out unit-testing and defect resolution
Proactively identify areas of improvement and functional gaps in Salesforce applications
Create and maintain technical documentation including process documentation, naming, and commenting conventions and Salesforce policies/procedures
Evaluate, install, and administer AppExchange applications
Assist with technical design and documentation
Provide post-production support as needed
Bachelor’s degree required in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Salesforce Developer I Current Certification
Salesforce App Builder Certification
Salesforce Administrator Certification
A minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in Salesforce.com configuration and custom development is required

Demonstrates experience with Apex, Lightning, Visualforce, SOQL, SOSL, Web Services, Sales Cloud, Services Cloud, Pardot
Experience in working data transformations and integrations using SOAP and REST API
Experience in the use of Salesforce automation tools, such as Process Builder, Workflows, Formulas, Flows, Validation rules, etc.
Experience in enterprise-level salesforce.com projects using both waterfall and agile software development methodologies throughout the whole left cycle with repeated and demonstrable success.
Extensive experience with salesforce.com configuration, including workflows, validation rules, and security settings
Experience in designing and developing software components and having a strong background in database design
Experience integrating salesforce.com with different business systems, as well as working with integration tools (ETL, CPQ, marketing automation, reporting, etc.)
Salesforce Developer II Current Certification
Expert understanding of the salesforce.com product suite including sales, service, and marketing clouds, as well as the force.com platform
Deep functional and technical understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and other cloud computing services
Deep understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning best practices, and deployment methodologies
Strong knowledge of master data management, including data capture, warehousing, segmentation, storing, cleansing, and security
Must have excellent oral and written communication, presenting, meeting facilitation, negotiation, decision making, and problem-solving skills
Ability to reasonably estimate the time for tasks and then meet deadlines set by those estimates; ability to prioritize multiple requests quickly and effectively
Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
Strong time management skills and attention to details required
Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with minimum supervision
