Brief Job Overview

This is a hands-on non-supervisory position responsible for assisting with the implementation and promotion of KM practices throughout the organization. By utilizing traditional and digital learning approaches, the Specialist will assist with the development of innovative, creative, and effective ways to strategically capture and share technical knowledge, leverage good practices, and improve effectiveness of development programs throughout the organization. The incumbent will be responsible for a wide variety of activities related to identifying, packaging, and disseminating key information to advance technical practice and provide practitioners with the tools they need to conduct better development work. Specifically, the Sr.KM Specialist will support learning events, conduct research, produce resources, and facilitate ongoing content development and engagement. This role will support USP’s mission by strengthening the transfer of valuable knowledge among staff, to bolster our standard-setting processes and stakeholder engagement.

How will YOU create impact here at USP?

  • Assist with design and implementation of effective learning activities – in collaboration with other team members, work with clients to scope and implement appropriate and effective knowledge capture and sharing activities.

  • Assist with various activities such as identification and evaluation of KM process and utilization of knowledge.

  • Assist with knowledge sharing events – contribute to the successful execution of events including monthly seminars/webinars, workshops, conferences, and peer learning sessions.

  • Identify and curate SharePoint content – in collaboration with technical experts, manage and implement project-wide content strategies to ensure that the right knowledge is getting to the right people at the right time (and in the right way)

  • Manage SharePoint site for community engagement – Respond to SharePoint site members in a timely manner and engage them in meaningful knowledge exchange.

  • Document and share learning – ensure requirements, lessons learned, and best practices for products, events, and other knowledge management activities are clear and documented.

  • Engage partners and learning champions – work with program managers, project partners, and learning champions to expand various online/in-person learning activities including engaging the growing member base on project websites, collaborating with external partners, and contributing content.

  • Work collaboratively with peers – work within the Knowledge Management team and closely with other teams including communications, IT, web development, training, and assessing and learning to ensure alignment and cohesion.

  • Foster relationships and sense of community – Share creative, efficient, and effective ways to engage audiences and facilitate sharing and collaboration.

  • Work with Knowledge Champions – assist with culture changes, driving open, collaborative environment to create a more holistic view of working cross-functionally to advance organization objectives.

  • Organize and track deliverables across multiple work functions.

  • Coordinate focus groups and/or surveys for releases

  • Assist with coordinating overall change program and implementation of change management activities.

  • Develop clear change strategies for change.

  • Provide clear communication to all key stakeholders on change-related issues.

Experience Required:

Sr. Knowledge Management Specialist

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Science background not necessary.

  • Experience curating and managing community engagement websites.

  • 6-8 years Knowledge Management and/or Change Management experience.

  • Strong written and verbal skills.

  • Experience engaging peers and learning champions.

  • Must have the ability to support knowledge implementation and support knowledge management policies, practices, and projects.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to research, organize, and maintain clear, concise artifacts/documents.

  • Knowledge of MS suite (Project, Excel, etc.)

  • Able to work flexible hours when needed to meet Global needs (11am-8pm)

Knowledge Management Specialist
