General Manager, Southeast Asia
This leadership role will oversee all of USP’s operations in Southeast Asia from USP’s regional site office in Singapore. Specifically, this position will lead the development and execution of strategies to advance public health through the development and utilization of USP quality standards to enhance the quality of medicines, dietary supplements, and foods. This role has direct responsibility for leading externally facing functions in Southeast Asia including customer engagement and external affairs and supports operational units including, Science Division, and Pharmacopeial Education. The General Manager will establish strong and collaborative relationships with leading public officials and stakeholders in Southeast Asia and represent the organization at high-level events. The GM will lead USP’s growth effort in the region by applying an in-depth understanding of the market, public health priorities, and strategic acumen Moreover, the GM will lead and inspire local leadership and staff, be a model of USP Core Values, and collaborate across USP’s global organization.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage USP Southeast Asia unit aligned with USP corporate culture, mission, and public health programs in the region.
Oversee country-level operations in countries where USP operates a local presence. This includes, but is not limited to, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
In partnership with the Sr. Director of Global Growth and the SVP, Global Sites, identify and execute local growth plans in priority countries within the region. This includes, but is not limited to, South Korea and Japan.
Develop and hold a sophisticated understanding of the region in order to identify additional priority countries and establish strategies accordingly.
Strategy and Execution: Lead the development and execution of plans and programs, both short- and long-range to support business goals and the objectives of the organization by working closely with the Sr. Director of Global Growth and Senior VP Global Sites.
Customer Engagement (CE): Drive market intimacy by representing USP in various industry forums; build and strengthen USP’s brand awareness. Administratively manage locally-based CE staff and be accountable for performance in achieving regional CE goals.
Regulatory and Public Affairs/Stakeholder Engagement (RPA): Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders in the public sector and industry to build awareness and communicate the value of USP’s standards. Administratively manage locally-based RPA staff and be accountable for performance in achieving RPA goals.
Scientific Affairs (SA): Protect and grow USP’s brand reputation as a credible, science-based organization by ensuring collaborative scientific relationships and developed and maintained. Administratively manage locally-based SA staff and be accountable for performance in achieving local SA goals.
Global Public Health (GPH): Work collaboratively with global GPH leadership to develop goals and objectives.
Collaborations: Seek and implement strategic collaborations with key stakeholders to advance public health objectives that align with USP’s capabilities and strategic plan
Matrix Management: Ensure that regionally-based management collaborates closely with counterparts from across the USP global organization
Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with applicable laws and regulations and the USP Code of Conduct.
Talent and Leadership Development: Ensure talent recruitment, development and retention as well the establishment of a leadership pipeline

MBA or other related graduate level education is required
Minimum of ten (10) years of general management experience. Including demonstrated success in strategic marketing, external affairs, new market development, public health program management, and/or strategic planning and execution.
Previous success operating in a global, complex matrix environment
Fluency in English
At least five (5) years of successful executive-level experience in a multi-national pharmaceutical or reference standards organization, working in a role with multi-functional responsibility.
Experience in external-facing roles preferred – customer engagement, regulatory & government affairs, communications, public affairs, corporate affairs
At least five (5) years of successful experience managing an organization or a company
