The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) Senior Manager, Strategic Customer Development, APAC in Singapore, Singapore


This role will lead a team of two Strategic Customer Development Managers in the APAC region, and will be responsible for all customer engagement activities in the region. H/She will also have direct customer engagement responsibility for Oceania (Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands). The role will work closely with the General Manager and the relevant Program Operations to develop and implement strategic plans and performance goals with the objective of market growth and utilization of USP’s standards in the region. This position will coordinate and manage USP projects and services to support strategic initiatives and work closely with other marketing, scientific affairs, and external affairs staff to identify product enhancements and new service offerings. This role is based in Singapore.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintains and strengthens existing customer relationships and develop new potential customer relationships. Ensure a consistent, strong sales pipeline and maintain a healthy prospect list

  • Develops and implements engagement strategies to increase USP’s account penetration and enhance customer experience with USP.

  • Understands how the customers use USP products and identify areas for growing existing business and potential new business.

  • Works with General Manager and Management in analyzing data, preparing reports on sales trends for USP and competitor products, and make recommendations on business impact and direction.

  • Analyzes sales data for domestic accounts and identifies trends and patterns that can assist the Program Operations, Scientific Affairs and other functions in developing strategic plans for future revenue growth.

  • Partners with Scientific Affairs to provides scientific and / or scientific resource experts, technical and marketing support to customers and relevant external stakeholders.

  • Identifies companies willing to work with USP on new monographs, monograph improvement and bulk material.

  • Actively manages distributors and develop account specific plans and performance targets. Performs monthly financial reviews of overall performance and performance against organizational reference standards, publications, and education revenue targets.

  • Plans User Forums, Education Forums, conferences, face-to-face customer visits and USP trade shows to educate customers and to promote USP reference standards, publications, and education products.

  • Travel can be up to 50-60% within the region.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or a related science field required.

  • A minimum of 8 years of successful sales and account management experience in the Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical and / or Biopharma Lab Services industries.

  • At least 3 years’ experience of leading a sales team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in marketing / product management

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the biotech and pharma industries with established contacts within the research, lab management and product development departments.

  • Scientific background / understanding of Biologics coupled with successful sales track record

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • A team of 2 customer engagement managers
