Summary of the Position

The Promoting the Quality of Medicines Plus (PQM+) program, funded by USAID and implemented by USP, improves access to quality-assured priority medicines and addresses the proliferation of poor-quality medical products in low- and middle-income countries. PQM+ works to strengthen medical product quality assurance systems through cross-sectoral and systems strengthening approaches and the application of international quality assurance standards across the pharmaceutical system. By sharing scientific expertise and providing technical support and leadership, PQM+ helps create resilient and robust local health systems that address diseases like HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases, as well as improves maternal, newborn and child health.

This Program Coordinator position, based in Uzbekistan, works as part of a team to coordinate the implementation of the USAID-funded Promoting the Quality of Medicines Plus (PQM+) program in Uzbekistan. The Program Coordinator will provide the day-to-day program coordination support to PQM+ project in Uzbekistan, including contributing to development of annual workplans, implementation and monitoring of project activities, drafting of progress reports, and development and management of project budgets, to ensure high quality results and the overall success and integrity of the project.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Uzbekistan local team and headquarter team to provide program coordination support for PQM+ Uzbekistan portfolio.

  • Contribute to the development of project work plans and budgets,

  • Contribute to implementation of PQM+ Uzbekistan project activities according to the approved workplans, including coordination with USAID, national counterparts, and GPH staff and consultants.

  • Contribute to development of the quarterly, annual, ad-hoc and travel reports,

  • Contribute to reporting of the M&E data and submission of means of verification.

  • Provide English-Russian and Russian-English translation support as needed.

  • Assist with meeting logistics, including scheduling, drafting of agendas, sending appointments, taking, and circulating notes, and following up on action items after meetings.

  • Draft travel notifications for donors, assist make hotel bookings for GPH staff and consultants as needed, and work with travelers to format their trip reports and expense reports.

  • Onboard GPH consultants who will be supporting the Central Asia projects, orienting them to USP and donor policies and procedures.

  • Ensure good document management on the Box shared drive, according to USP and donor policies.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience providing program coordination support for donor-funded global health programs or international development assistance programs.

  • Strong program coordination skills with experience contributing to development and monitoring of project work plans and reports.

  • Articulate, professional and able to communicate effectively with GPH staff and consultants and key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience providing English-Russian and Russian-English translation support.

  • Excellent writing skills including an ability to develop clear project documentation, reports, meeting notes, and written communications with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as with cross-cultural and cross-functional teams.

  • Advanced computer competence (e.g., MS Office).

  • Fluency in English and Russian.

  • Authorized to work in Uzbekistan

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working for donor funded global health programs or international development assistance programs in Uzbekistan.

  • Fluency in Uzbek language is preferred.

  • Previous experience working with programs aiming to strengthen medicines quality assurance systems is preferred.
