Be YOU at USP—Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging in the workplace
At USP, our focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is intentional and designed to support a culture of true Belonging. USP’s Office of Organizational Culture, Equity & Inclusive Excellence works across the organization to ensure global staff and volunteers are equipped to understand, embrace, and integrate the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging to achieve USP’s mission (in a way relevant to their role, function, and business processes).
In all aspects of our work—from the standards we create to the partnerships and conversations we cultivate—we are committed to creating an environment where every employee feels fully empowered and valued irrespective of, but not limited to, personality, race, ethnicity, physical and mental abilities, education, religion, gender identity and expression, life experience, sexual orientation, country of origin, regional differences, work experience, and family status.
At USP, we strive to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging in many ways, supporting everyone in contributing to our mission eagerly and comfortably. USP’s vibrant Affinity Network, comprised of 11 affinity groups globally, helps drive inclusion and belonging at USP by creating a safe space for support, sharing, connection, and professional development. This network also works towards increasing staff member engagement, retention and fostering a more inclusive work environment.
From the standards we create to the partnerships and conversations we foster, we recognize the crucial value of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging to build and reinforce a foundation that draws us closer to a world where everyone can be confident of quality in heath and healthcare.
Creating a culture of equity for employees and enhancing the candidate experience involves implementing inclusive policies, promoting diverse leadership, and ensuring equitable opportunities for all. Key strategies include regular DEI training, fostering open communication, supporting Employee Resource Groups, and holding leaders accountable for DEI goals. A bias-free recruitment process, diverse hiring panels, transparent communication, and supportive onboarding are essential for candidates. Leadership commitment, continuous improvement, and external partnerships further reinforce a company's dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
