Today, our public quality standards are used in more than 140 countries, offering a common language for global industry, governments and academia to help ensure billions of people have access to quality, safe and beneficial medicines, dietary supplements and foods.
To support the work of and foster collaboration with our global healthcare partners, USP has established state-of-the-art laboratories and office sites around the world. Together, we’re working for quality…for everyone.
India
Established in 2006, USP-India, located in Hyderabad’s IKP Knowledge Park, features state-of-the-art laboratory facilities staffed by more than 300 scientific, quality assurance, and support staff professionals. USP-India supports core Compendial Standard Developmental activities of USP under the Chemical and Biological area by executing Collaborative Testing Activities, RS Evaluation, Compendial Method Development, Standard Acquisition, and Scientific Liaison activities. In 2020, as a part of the lab expansion of USP-India, 12000 SFT space was leased in the new IKP building “Catalyst,” and the Synthetic Lab, along with the Analytical Support Lab, was moved to this new facility to accommodate the expanded scope of Reference Standard Collaborative testing and Compendial Development activities. USP-India collaborates with policymakers, regulators, professional and manufacturing associations, and leaders in India's pharmaceutical and food sectors, including IPC, NIPER, and AYUSH, to promote quality within the region.
Seeing its workforce as a reflection of USP’s overall mission to improve global health, USP¬-India strives to create an inclusive, nurturing work environment. In 2021, USP-India has inaugurated the City Office, with the current seating capacity of 130. China
Located in the Shanghai Free Trade Pilot Zone, USP–China’s advanced and award-winning research and development facilities are home to a professional team of scientists and customer managers. USP–China is a global manufacturing base for pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements and food additives, and is committed to establishing strong relationships with regulators and industry players.
Since its opening in 2007, USP–China has made consistent contributions to improving quality standards of medicines and food ingredients by sharing scientific knowledge as well as providing reference standard products to over 1,000 pharmaceutical companies in China. Staff have developed close relationships with government regulators and the scientific community in the country, including the Chinese Pharmacopeia Commission, the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control, and the China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment.
USP–China has been recognized as a Technology Advanced Service Enterprise, a Foreign-Invested Research and Development Center, a Pilot Bonded R&D Enterprise, and an Outstanding Enterprise in the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone.
Brazil
USP–Brazil supports public health in Brazil and in the many countries to which Brazil exports pharmaceutical products through collaborative testing of USP reference standards, direct-to-customer technical service, support and testing for USP Verification programs, and developing and delivering education and training programs.
